From the Instructor:

As junior handlers we often struggle to find the confidence that allows us and our dogs to succeed together. No doubt it is intimidating to walk into a class filled with people that are at least ten to twenty years older than you. This class offers an environment where you will be learning about agility with your peers while still being treated like an adult. Sherwood Barks embraces and respects their junior handlers as part of the agility family. We are not afraid to challenge our junior handlers because we know they are capable of anything!

A bit about the instructor…

I am 16 years old and I have been training dogs for 5 years. I’ve had family pets all throughout my life but when I was in grade three I started saving to get my own dog. By the time I was in grade 5 I had saved $700 and was ready to get a puppy I could officially call mine. My search brought me to a breeder of “foo-foo” type dogs, as Jen would call them, a Maltese Cockapoo.  My long road with Sherwood Barks started with an in home lesson, which quickly led to taking puppy classes and continuing on with agility which I had always been interested in. I am now competing in competition with Eddie and we are doing great. I currently assist Jen in teaching puppy classes and am very excited to start this class with all of Sherwood Barks’ up and coming junior handlers. I have a deep routed passion for agility and believe that young people should embrace this sport and take pride in being a junior handler; after all, we are the future of agility!!
