Qualified, Experience Dog Groomer
We are looking for an experienced, fun and passionate dog groomer to join our team. This is a part-time, commissioned position located at our busy training & daycare facility in Sherwood Park. Previous education or experience in pet grooming is REQUIRED.
*Over 18 years of age
*Physically fit - able to lift 50 lbs at times and stand for long periods, hold equipment in a steady position
*Reliable transportation and an excellent attendance record
*Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
*An eye for detail, passion for quality workmanship, and an ongoing desire to learn new skills
*A commitment to working with animals in a safe, gentle and respectful way, and able to work with all kinds of temperaments
*Team player - committed to the success of the business overall, and willing to pitch in to assist other team members on occasion
*Not allergic - you may have exposure to high concentrations of pet dander, fur, dust, shampoos etc
*All breeds & types grooming training & experience, and able to work with large or small dogs
*Ability to handle animals in a safe and gentle manner
*Possess and maintain your own professional grade tools and equipment
(clippers, blades, scissors, combs, stand dryers)
Preference given to groomers with the following additional skills:
*Strong hand scissoring skills
*Some type of pet first aid training

Dog Daycare Attendant
Seeking a part time Dog Daycare and Training Facility Attendant. Knowledge of positive dog training and understanding of dog body language is critical for this position. You will bring positive energy, a great work ethic, a love for dogs to our growing team. You are someone who has experience working with a group of dogs and has a good understanding of dog behaviour and dog safety.
Sherwood Barks promises to provide a fun, safe environment for our doggy clientele. Preference will be given to individuals with professional experience as a dog walker, work within a dog daycare, or experience as a dog trainer.
Experience with your own family dogs does not qualify for this position.

Staff are expected to be self starters, take instruction well, work well on your own, take initiative, be quick learners and work well with others.
Dog Daycares are rewarding places to work, but they can be stressful at times. Therefore, all staff members must be calm under pressure and have a strong sense of confidence when dealing with multiple dogs and their owners. Due to our large facility, a majority of this position is cleaning and sanitation. Applicants must have a 'clean freak' attitude, perfectionists are a bonus!
*Minimum 1 year experience as a dog walker, dog trainer, dog daycare attendant or other pet industry role is required
*Basic understanding of dog behavior and positive techniques to communicate with dogs
*Have a calm, assertive and positive demeanor with the dogs
*Strong understanding of positive reinforcement versus correction techniques
*Have a basic understanding of pack behavior in dogs
*Passion for working with dogs of all sizes and temperaments

*Take dogs outside year round (summer and winter) for bathroom breaks
*Be on their feet for a majority of the shift
*Pick-up and clean-up after dogs
*Feed and administer medication to dogs (as appropriate)
*Keep accurate logs and records of dog behavior and activities
*Tidy, clean, vacuum, mop, and disinfect facility
Working Hours & Salary
Part - Time
Candidates are required to work the afternoon shift, 2 pm - 6 pm Monday to Friday.
