Sherwood Bark Aggressive Dog Policy    (effective April 2, 2009)

 

1. Sherwood Barks will not knowingly accept aggressive dogs into any of Sherwood Barks

    classes, programs or socialization times, ie. Puppy Play Time.

 

2. If a dog is identified as an aggressive dog due to an aggressive incident during scheduled

   classes, socialization times in the off leash area, Puppy Play Time or any other Sherwood 

   Barks sponsored event, the handler will be given a warning.  The warning will be at the

   discretion of the supervising instructor. 

 

3. After one warning is given the dog will be required  to wear a red bandana indicating to other

   handler's there is a potential aggression problem with that dog.

 

4. If the first aggressive incident results in an injury to the target dog.  The aggressive dog

    will immediately be dismissed from classes and all other Sherwood Barks sponsored

    activities. 

 

5. If the first aggressive incident does not result in an injury to the target dog the dog may

    continue in Sherwood Barks programs but it will be the sole responsiblity (100%) of the

    handler to ensure there are no further aggressive incidents.  

 

6. Should another aggressive dog to dog incident occur (with or without injury to the target dog)

   the aggressive dog will immediately be dismissed from classes and become ineligable to

 participate in all Sherwood Barks activities.

 

7. Refund Policy:

    One warning:  The handler of the aggressive dog will be refunded for all remaining classes.

    One warning with injury:  The dog will be removed from all Sherwood Barks classes and

    activities.  No refund will be given

    Second Incident:  No refund will be given for remaining classes but the handler is welcome

    to audit the remaining classes.

 

Responsibility for Injury:

1. The handler of the aggressive dog will be solely responsible for any costs, ie veterinary bills or any

   necessary rehabilitation incurred to the target dog or any animal which may be the victim of an attck

  or aggression.  

2. Should a handler knowingly bring an aggressive dog into classes without the knowledge of

   Sherwood Barks staff the handler will be liable to prosecution and any incurring costs for

   failure to disclose a potential aggressive dog incident.

If an aggressive do incident occurs at any of Sherwood Barks classes or programs without the

knowledge of Sherwood Barks staff, Sherwood Barks will accept no responsibility if they are

not made aware of incidents occurring.
