Puppy obedience - July 2006

Dear Jen;

Thank you very much for letting me come to your Puppy Class.  I really enjoyed playing with the other dogs, learning to sit, stay, come, run through a tunnel and getting me started on doing some tricks.

I liked that my classes were all really positive and my owner was told to always be enthusiastic and give me lots of praise and yummy treats.  My owner also learned how to train me using a “clicker” and I knew exactly when I had done the right thing!

My owner liked all the extra written materials that you provided via email and has set up a little binder for me with all my training information.  We also learned a lot from you because of all of your experience working with dogs – you must be really old ‘cause of all the stuff you know!

Here is a picture of me when I am calm.  I don’t think you got to see that in your class.

I gotta go, I think I hear a squirrel……..      Lizzie

Foundations Level 1&2

Hi Jen:

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thanks.  With Addie being the kind of dog she is, before we came to training, she was a real handful, probably mostly because she was bored.   The change in her since we started agility has been amazing.  I know some of it is simply because she is growing up, but I’m sure a lot of it has to do with both of us getting an education.  I’ve spent my entire life around dogs, and I always thought I knew quite a bit about handling dogs, but I have learned a LOT from you, and it has made training Addie much more fun, and less of a struggle.  I find that the consistency in how we deal with things has improved our success ratio big time – so THANKS

Pat Summerton

March, 2007

Hi Jen,
We have appreciated all of your help and the classes have been fun!  We have learnt so much from you and can't imgaine where we would be now if we didn't have your classes behind us.  For now, we are going to focus Bentley on obedience with the idea of getting him into obedience trials and "eventually" (and hopefully)  into Pet Therapy after he is older.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Nani - Basic Agility

Graduate of Puppy Obedience & Foundations Classes

When our veterinarian labelled our new 10 week old Border Collie/Husky pup as "bold", we felt concerned since we have two younger children.  It was then we realized we needed support early on to make sure Nani made a good transition into our family.  Jen's puppy obedience class (or Nani's Kindergarten as we called it), came at the perfect time.   Along with the basic obedience, Nani had a lot of opportunity for socialization with other dogs and people, and she learned to trust us as her family.  Nani is one year old and a happy member of our busy household.  Since taking the Foundations class we are now back for an Agility Class.
Thanks Jen!

Jr. Handler, Basic Agility, 2006

When I first found out about the sport of Agility, I thought that it might be something fun to do with my six year old Golden Retriever named Buddy.  We did not have a lot of luck with finding classes until we found an ad for Sherwood Barks.  Now my Golden is always excited about going to class.    When I bring him into the front yard he will run to the van and jump into his crate.  Buddy is now seven and I have learned so much from Jen, that Buddy is starting to become more focused on me than ever.

Thanks Jen!                                 Shelby & Buddy
